Katie and Darren's Old St Pat's and the University Club Wedding

This wedding is totally for the history (or maybe the story) books! Both Katie and Darren were born and raised down state. But it was in Chicago where their romance blossomed. They were married on a stunning November day at Old St Pat's. It was a bittersweet moment for Katie, because her father had passed away only a few months prior. After such an emotionally charged event, it was time to let loose, hang out on the party bus and get some rockin' city pictures before heading back to the University Club for the reception. Cathedral Hall was breathless. Katie's vision, executed with the help of Rishi from HMR Design Group and Melissa Phillips of Simply Perfect by Melissa, was inspiring! Actually, I think the word sexy was used more than once to describe the decor. The reception went off without a hitch. Final Say kept the party rolling all night with a good mix of classics and contemporary hits. It was truly a night to remember! We started the day making some beautiful pictures against the Art Deco backdrop of the club. They it was off on a brief tour of the city before landing at St James Chapel for an intimate ceremony. We love weddings like Lisa and Jose's, full of vintage touches and meaning elements. Lisa is a photographer and has freelanced for G+S in the past. So naturally we were thrilled when she and Jose came to us to shoot their wedding. They were married in Skokie at Jose's family's church. Lisa wore her mother in law's wedding dress from the 70's, which she modified slightly. The reception was held at the historic School of the Art Institute's Ballroom. A little know showpiece of a room that is right out of the roaring 20's, and Lisa's alma mater. This wedding was a perfect mix of Jose's Cuban heritage, Lisa's love of everything vintage, and their joint love of history and family. One of our photographers has known Meghan since high school, so we knew two things about her wedding going prior to the actual day: everything was going to be exquisite and the reception was going to be one heck of a party! Meghan and Corey exceeded our expectations. Even though they live in D.C., Meghan and Corey planned a perfect wedding. The two got ready at the Drake Hotel, before heading over to St. James Chapel. After tying the knot, the couple and their wedding party hit LaSalle Street for some fun images, before retreating to The Saddle and Cycle Club. Caroline & John's wedding was awesome! Caroline is Southside Irish and John is actually Irish, so they make a perfect match. Taking photos around the city doubled as a Tour of Chicago for some of John's family. We got to go to some great places to snap pictures, including getting onto the field at U.S. Cellular field! The mix of Irish and American music and cultures at the reception was another great detail of the wedding. Caroline even got up and danced with some of the irish dancers. We first fell for this amazing couple during their engagement session. We knew their wedding was going to be amazing. There was nothing to disappoint us! Amita, Ben and many of their family and friends escaped the thrashings of Hurricane Irene for picture perfect Chicago and an unforgettable wedding that blended elements of two ancient traditions. We started off the day at the Palmer House, then walked to Millennium Park for a few pictures with their friends. From there we walked down to the AIC gardens for some romantic pictures of just the couple. With a leisurely walk to the Chicago Cultural Center our photo tour was complete. The intimate feeling ceremony for over two hundred in Preston Bradley was flawless. Sabrina Hans of SHEvents brought everything together seamlessly. Destination Chautauqua Lake, NY: Adi and Howie's Wedding

This isn't the 1st time you've seen this lovely couple. We posted their engagement session a few weeks ago. Adi and Howie tied the knot at the historic Chautauqua Institution's Hall of Philosophy. The Chautauqua Institution is nestled on the edge of the lake that its named for in western New York State. Built about a hundred years ago as a summer learning center, the Institution's grounds are filled with some amazing architecture. It was a postcard perfect backdrop for make some amazing pictures of these two love birds!

Adi's hair piece was had made by a friend out of spoons and a vintage broach

Both Bride and Groom are doctors, Adi for the Air Force, hence the aviator sun glasses!

As the sun set over the lake, we all headed to the opposite shore for the reception. It was a rockin party that none os us will forget! Thanks to Adi and Howie for letting us be apart of your amazing wedding!

This was the first wedding reception that was held there in over twenty years! This venue was very special for the couple because Shannon's grandfather was the original owner. Gabriela and David’s wedding is was truly unforgettable! This wedding had it all – beautiful flowers, gigantic cake, awesome music and a stunning bride and groom.

Gabriela made her bouquet out of her family members’ old brooches, which was a fun way to incorporate “something barrowed”.

The couple got ready at Hotel Dana, before venturing over to Olive Park. To escape the heat we went inside to the Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows located at Navy Pier.

The couple got married at the Foreman Pavilion, located in the Lincoln Park Zoo. After cocktails, guests retreated into Café Brauer. Anthony Gowder Designs did an amazing job with the flowers.

Genny & Alex were fabulous clients - willing to do anything! We had a great time with them, and their wedding was fantastic. We started out at the Belden Stratford Hotel in Lincoln Park, where we were able to watch from the window as Frost set up the reception area at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. We then embarked on a photo safari of sorts all over Chicago before the official ceremony took place at Old St. Pat's. At the end of the reception, we took a step outside to Millennium Park where the couple posed in front of the Crown Fountain. Can't get more "Chicago" than that!

We love destination weddings! This one was extra special because Adi and Howie are part of the G+S extended family. The Chatauqua Lake region is western New York is breathtaking. With mile after mile of vineyards tucked into the mountains, you might think that you were in Napa or Italy. But this is Welches country, where the wine is sweet and juicy. A few days before their wedding we took the happy couple out for a few pictures. We stopped at Midway State Park, one of the oldest amusement parks in the country, then it was off to a local winery. We ended our little tour lakeside, watching the sun set. Don't forget to check back later in the week for the highlights of their amazing wedding!

We have had the great pleasure of working with Esther and David for over two years. It all started with a dynamite engagement session in the spring of 2009. They were married later that year in a wonderfully eclectic ceremony that reflected both their cultural backgrounds backgrounds, and their life together. We were so excited when Esther contacted us about doing some pictures of the newest member of their family, Joshua. They live right down the street from the studio so it was only natural for us to take some pictures in the neighborhood. We had a great time! Can't wait to work together again soon!!!

We are honored to report that our very own Belen's wedding is featured on Style Me Pretty today! We shot our photographer's wedding last year in DC, and as you can imagine, everything looked great! Allison and Brendan had a great day walking around the city for their engagement session! We took them to some Chicago hot spots to get them prepared for their wedding. Krystan and Drew tied the knot in the beautiful Madonna Della Strada Chapel at Loyola University. The gorgeous location of the chapel next to the lake and the perfectly clear summer day made for some beautiful photographs. Krystan and Drew are a great pair and to say that we had a wonderful time with them would be an understatement. Were so happy we got to spend the day with them!

Jessica and Colm's wedding was hot! Quite literally, actually, because it took place during our recent heat wave! However, no temperature could get in the way of the awesomeness that was this wedding. First, Jessica and Colm had their ceremony at Old St. Pat's - a good ol' Irish church, which is quite fitting because Colm is from Ireland! After the ceremony, we went to his bar, The Kerryman, for a pint of Guinness before city shots. After parading around the city, we cooled off at the reception which was at the University Club of Chicago. They had a Chinese tea ceremony and topped it off with a group of bag pipers. We had the pleasure of taking some amazing photos of these two down Michigan Avenue and Olive Park before arriving at Galleria Marchetti for their ceremony. Shirley and Tom had a beautiful wedding at the Drake Hotel. After getting ready at the Drake, we boarded trolleys and headed to South Holland, Illinois to Saint Jude where they had their ceremony. Saint Jude was special to them because Shirley had grown up going to school at that church. Along the way back to the reception we got to stop at Kinzie Street bridge and take some awesome photos. Their reception at the Drake was filled with family and friends from all over the world, many from Haiti where Shirley's family is from. It was a great wedding and we're so happy we got to be apart of it!

This past weekend, Shannon and Eric celebrated their wedding in true Chicago fashion, with a lovely ceremony at Holy Name Cathedral and reception at The Drake Hotel.

Even though it was extremely hot and humid, we were able to make great pictures at the Chicago Yacht Club and the Adler Planetarium. Thank you Shannon and Eric for sharing your day with us!

Jamie & Dan

Jamie and Dan are true "Sol" mates. They both love to travel and spend summers on their boat named Sol Mates. They tied the knot St. James Cathedral and had their reception at Cafe Brauer. Along the way we had the opportunity to shoot some beautiful photos at the W Hotel, Olive Park, and even stopped at their place for a photo with their dog. It was an amazing day. Medha & Chetan

Medha and Chetan were married on a hot June day. They were originally scheduled for June 2010, but Chetan blew out his knee and had to rehab for a whole year in order to sweep his bride off of her feet. The Hindu ceremony was outside at the Chicago History Museum.

Afternoon showers threatened outside cocktails at the Adler Planetarium, but festivities continued inside with fireworks at the end of the night to celebrate the new union.
