Destination: Carmel Indiana

We love destination weddings! Jennifer and Josh were married Labor Day weekend, just outside of Indianapolis in Carmel. The weather was great, the couple was amazing and the venue was picture perfect! We could not have asked for more! Thanks guys!

Elizabeth & Bill

September has been such a crazy month!  We have so many great weddings to show you, and today we are going to share Elizabeth & Bill.  They got married on 9/11: the same date as the 39th wedding anniversary of Elizabeth's parents and the birthday of Bill's mother.  They got ready at the Merchandise Mart Plaza - one of the best views of the Chicago River out there!  After their ceremony at Old St. Pat's, we took photos around the city.  The couple was so affectionate and obviously in love that their chemistry made working with them a total cake walk!  Their reception, also at the Merch Mart, was a huge party with lots of dancing and crazy shenanigans.  We had a great time!

Amy & Jeff's Engagement Session

Amy and Jeff are getting married this fall at the University Club!  As a couple, they are a great mixture of art & numbers, seeing as how Amy is a dancer and Jeff is a trader.  You can see how Amy's got those moves!  We had a great time trekking around the West Loop with them, and we are positive that their wedding is going to be a blast!

Julie & Brandon

Julie & Brandon - what a couple!  Their wedding took place in Naperville with the ceremony at St. Elizabeth Seton and the reception at the Naperville Country Club.  These two have actually known each other since high school, so this was a really big day for them!  They incorporated a lot of their family and friends into the details of their wedding.  For example, they used Julie's parent's cake topper and had one of the bridesmaids design all of their paper products.  Julie had some awesome shoes -- the heels are covered in rhinestones! -- and Brandon had hilarious groomsmen that serenaded the bride a la Top Gun's "You've Lost That Loving Feeling."  Precious!  Lastly, check out those cool limes in the center pieces!

Winter Engagement Sessions

The seasons are changing, but that doesn't mean great photography has to hibernate!  Though that may be the cheesiest sentence ever written on this blog, it speaks the truth.  If you're having a summer wedding, why not mix it up and get some snowy photos?  The lighting is gorgeous and the city will look completely different compared to your wedding photos.  Essentially, you can get the best of both worlds.  Dave & Amanda had their engagement session last winter and made a beautiful Save the Date card out of one of their photos.

Winter photos are whimsical, romantic, and such a Chicago staple.  All we're saying is, don't doubt what winter can do for your engagement photos.

Sage & Jason

Boat ride!!  Since most of their family and wedding party were from out of town, Jason and Sage thought it would be nice to show them Chicago from a very different point of view.  What a fantastic treat for the family and bridal party!!  Not only did they enjoy the scenery, but it lent for a different view of Chicago than we normally get access too.  After the boat ride, we were given a ride to Fulton's on the River where Jason and Sage tied the knot.  One of our favorite parts of working at Fulton's is definitely the outdoor cocktail space.  Right on the river, the space gives guests a great view while the party gets started.  Another thing we really liked was the black and white table cloths with the various mix of floral enhancements.  Berries, flowers, succulents... all of it lent to a unique take on Fulton's.  Jason and Sage were a blast to work with, not to mention, the boat ride was pretty excellent!

Mimi & Martin

Hotel Palomar is a brand new Chicago hotel on State & Illinois.  They just began hosting weddings, and Gerber+Scarpelli has had the honor and privilege of doing three of the only four weddings held there.  It's a fantastic space and for the right sized party it's the perfect location for a downtown Chicago Wedding.

Mimi and Martin overcame a number of obstacles leading up to their wedding day.  While planning for the big event, Mimi was assigned a project in Sweden so she had to do most of the planning over the phone while trusting Martin's judgement on making sure it was executed the way she'd envisioned.  Not only that, but the Palomar hadn't even been finished by the time they booked it!  When it came time to sign Martin and the fabulous planner Melissa Philips were standing in a concrete room with hard hats on imagining what the room would look like while imagining how their decor would fit in.  Needless to say, they did a great job.  One of our favorite things about this wedding was the super long 40 person table for their whole party.  Not only did it enhance the feeling of everyone being a family at the wedding, but it was surely something different than most of their guests had ever seen.  It was a fabulous event with a fabulous couple.  Thanks to Mimi and Martin for having us be a part of your day!
