The Proposal: Their Story is….that they have no story! At least it’s not a traditional story. As in everything Blair and Martin do, they approached the proposal as a team. The couple had discussed getting engaged by December and in true Martin fashion he waited until the November 27th to decide to propose. They were driving in the car and Martin just turned to Blair and said “I think today is the day we should go look at rings?”
They decided to go to a friend of the family’s jeweler, and together picked out a ring. Blair choose the setting and Martin choose the stone. It was meant to be, because they were able to take the ring that day (apparently that never happens bc of the size of the setting).
Blair had always told Martin that before he proposed he had to ask both of her brothers and her mom….They decided after buying the ring to go celebrate with a Margarita (Blair's fav). Martin called Blair's mom and she came to meet the couple. Martin basically asked her for permission the second he saw her walking in the door. A family dinner was already arranged for later that evening, and the whole family met at a tiny wine bar next to the restaurant….Martin snuck away and individually asked both of her brothers if he could marry their sister.
As Martin walked backed in to the bar, he made a B’ line to Blair, dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him in front of her whole family. Even though she knew it was coming she still cried!!! And of course said YES!
The Wedding: Blair and Martin started at the day getting read at The James. Blair's hair was done by Alissa Lavine, makeup by Rachel Condron, with a Monique Lhuillier gown from Casa De Novia. Her jewelry was a gift from Martin from Styles Jewelers, and her shoes were by Stuart Weitzman. Bridesmaides wore Herve Leger, Groomsmen wore Vera Wang, and the Groom wore a custom suit by Q Clothier. Day of coordination was by Designer Events Chicago. After everyone was ready we took their trolley to Old St. Pat's for the ceremony.
Everything went according to plan, and the two were wed in the historic church. After the ceremony, we went to several favorite spots for photographs, then headed to City Winery for the reception.
Florals were by Flower Firm, catering was taken care of in house by City Winery, the cake was by Sweet Mandy B's, and the evenings entertainment was provided by David Rothstein/ Jeff Sanders. Everyone had a great time, and one of the evenings highlights was Mom guest staring on the drums!
Congrats Blair and Martin!
