Not Just Puppy Love - Well... Maybe A Little Puppy Love

We were so thrilled when Katie and Steve decided they wanted to work with us! Once we met their sweet puppy we were even more smitten with this little family! We met early on a Sunday morning and wandered around Millennium Park - where they had their first date. Then it was off to a bridge to get some downtown Chicago in their engagement session. Marissa and Ryan's Indy Engagement Shoot

Engagement shoots are one of our FAVORITE things to do! Not only do we get to do a trial run for photos on the wedding day, we get to know our couples a little better. It's awesome when the couple wants to do something for their shoot that relates to their lives. For Ryan and Marissa, it's going to dinner at Bite Café before heading next door to the Empty Bottle to catch a show. So if you haven't scheduled your engagement session with us yet, consider doing it at your Friday Night Date Spot, or another place that has special significance to you. Not only do we get to know you better, you'll have a little piece of personal history to look back on. 

Ian & Morgan's Intimate Destination Wedding

This fall we got the opportunity of a lifetime! Ian and Morgan wanted to tie the knot and have an amazing vacation and they invited us to be a part of it! Darcey, from Big City Bride, was on hand to make sure that everything went smoothly. We got to the Westin in Maui early and got the opportunity to photograph Ian and Morgan on the day before the wedding. Then, on the wedding day - Morgan knew she was going into the ocean in her dress! After a beautiful ceremony in front of a waterfall we went right into the ocean and shot some pretty amazing pictures! Take a look at some of our pictures from the week and their slideshow below. Last week we got to do a really awesome engagement shoot with a great couple; Amy and Tony! Cool cloud cover and good light and working with a couple who's up for anything is DEFINITELY on is our list of favorite things. Check out some of our favorite pictures below!

Rich & Jim's Engagement Session

Jim and Rich met each other playing in an intramural softball league up near Montrose Harbor. For their engagement shoot we thought it'd be fun to give a little nod to the first time they met, so we went to the very field where they literally ran into each other. From there we walked around and got some cool stuff with the beach, the harbor, Cricket Hill and the skyline! We love locations like Montrose Harbor which are not only meaningful to the couple, but extremely photogenic! Take a look at some of our favorite pictures from their engagement session! Engagement Session: Parul and Mirab

What a beautiful, energetic couple!  Parul and Mirab had us entertained as we galavanted around Lincoln Park and the West Loop.  They look so great together, don't they?  They're getting married, traditional Indian style, this Memorial Day weekend at the Meadows Club.  Check back later to see photos from their wedding!

Engagement Session with Jessica, Seth and Tru

Don't get us wrong - we love Chicago.  But every now and then we get the opportunity to do a photo shoot in somewhere different.  Jessica and Seth asked us to come out to Barrington and introduced us to Jessica's horse Tru. Isn't it so romantic?! The sun setting on the snow, a black horse and an amazing couple!

The couple met in South Africa and are getting married in the Tiffany Garden next year.  We can't wait for their wedding!

Gerber+Scarpelli Loves Valentine's Day

It may be trite, it may be cliché, but Valentine's day is a favorite at the studio.  Maybe it's because we all really like chocolate and flowers, or maybe it's because we choose to believe that St. Valentine himself was a jailbird sending his sweet honey "valentines" from prison.  (Apparently, history.com believes the same!)  Regardless, Valentine's day is fun whether you decide to enjoy it or gripe about it - but more importantly, Valentine's day is one of the most popular days of the year to get engaged!
