Chris & Asune's wedding

Last Saturday, in what seemed like the last nice day of 2008, Lizz and Emily had the great pleasure of shooting Asune and Chris's wedding. The ceremony and the reception were both held at Independence Grove's Nature Center. To say that a good time was had by all is an understatement! At Lizz's request, Chris took off his shoes and socks and splashed around in the pond! And Asune just rolled with it. Thanks guys for making it such a wonderful day!

Chris had some nice words for us as well....
"Besides the photos, you and Emily were probably the coolest heads throughout the day, easily winning the 'most patient' award. Asune and I have both discussed how you two were so unobtrusive, calm and just easy to be with. (This was no surprise).

Secondly, speaking of the photos, the slideshow you sent was amazing! Asune and I cried tears of joy (yes, I keep crying, I know, it's a weakness) at the beautiful images you captured, and we are thrilled with your work. We are proud to say your images will help us remember a beautiful day just the way it lives in our memories."

On the 'L'

Right before it turned cold, two of our intrepid photographers, hopped the rails to shoot some editorials. These are some of the shots they came back with:

Sarah and James

Sarah and James live minutes from Lincoln park, so it seemed like a natural fit to meet them there one evening and take a few pictures. Even though the light didn't last very long, we still made some really beautiful pictures. And some silly ones too! They are a really fun couple, we can't wait to shoot their wedding!

Robyn and Jason

When out on an engagement shot, we really like to find cool places that might not work so well on the wedding day. A place we have been going to recently, is Castaways, on North Ave Beach. It has really beautiful light, and the color is very dramatic. And it's already somewhere we love to go! We took Robyn and Jason there a few weeks back and made some great pictures. They are getting married next year 6.6.09.

Lesley and Nick Engagement Session

It has been a busy time for engagements sessions. We have be running around the city making some beautiful pictures. Lesley and Nick are working with Nick for their wedding. A few weeks ago, the went out and made some great pictures. They were really fun, and I think it shows in their pictures!

Fulton Market Cold Storage

At 5 AM, on a Thursday, a band of Gerber+Scarpelli Photographers shot a series of editorial images for the up and coming website elchic.com, which launches next month. This is what they came back off the roof with:

The Chicago Bridal Market

Nick recently shot the Chicago Bridal Market for The Knot. It was really exciting to see some of the amazing fashions coming for the 2009 season! The bird cage veil is back, along with short wedding dresses and whimsical accessories. We can't wait to start shooting some of these exciting trends in the next months!

Baby Caroline

In 2006, Mike shot Beth Ann and Scott's wedding at the MCA. We made some really amazing pictures that day! Recently, they brought their brand new baby girl in for a few pictures. She is so beautiful! It was wonderful to see them again and the newest addition to their family. It is truly one of our favorite things when our relationship with our clients lasts beyond the wedding day.
Thank you Beth Ann and Scott!

Billy & Candy

A few weeks ago, I shot some pictures of my friends, Billy and Candy, who are getting married next year. They met in high school in Hyde Park. So we went there to make a few pictures. We had beautiful light and it was a great time!

lizz sisson: one light

Last week Lizz traveled to Northern California to learn explore a bit more with lighting. She attended two workshops with the well-known Zach Arias and David Beckstead. While the photographers are vastly different in style, their workshops complimented one another in a seamless fashion. Lizz had an amazing time, and came away from the experience with many new connections and some fabulous images:

In the Community

September is always a crazy month at Gerber+Scarpelli. But we have made time this month to work with some great local charities. Kurt and Nick shot the Toque dinner for COSI (Children's Oncology Services, Inc.) last week. Some of the finest chefs in Chicago bring their talents to this fantastic dinner. Kurt and Nick both had a wonderful time shooting this event!

Also last week, Belen worked for IPRAC (Institute of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture). They are working on their new space in Humbolt Park. Part of that construction was the installation of a mosaic by New York based artist Manny Vega. It was a really amazing experience.
