ParterCon - New Orleans!

We were so honored to host a workshop at last year's Pictage Partner Conference in New Orleans.  Being around so many other photographers from the entire country was so inspiring.  We worked with people such as Dennis Reggie, Mike Colon, Joe Buissink and Carlos Reez.

At the last PartnerCon, Kurt lead a hands-on workshop that filled up in 5 minutes with several people left on the wait-list.  Kurt took the lucky 25 photographers around the French Quarter, teaching them his techniques and poses he uses with his couples.  The workshop was such a success that Pictage asked him to do it again this year!

Here are some photos from the workshop:

Alma and David, our models, rocked the photo shoot. The couple got married in New Orleans two weeks prior to the workshop, in a cowboy/Indian themed wedding. The newlyweds were edgy, fun, energetic, romantic, but most of all not afraid to let loose in front of 25 cameras!!

Thanks to everyone who made the workshop a success!  We are so humbled to be asked back.  See you soon New Orleans!

Jenny & Alec

It was like a story out of a movie; Jenny and Alex met while studying literature in Bristol, England.  They fell in love and maintained a long distance relationship between Jenny's home in Illinois and Alec's in England.  After a big move to the United States, Jenny and Alec had their wedding at the brand new Hotel Palomar!  We were so lucky to shoot there, because this hotel has only had three weddings so far.  The space is beautiful, but not as much as our couple!

Midwest Wedding & Event Professionals 2nd Annual Charity Golf Outing - A Huge Success!!

Last Wednesday, we took part in one of our favorite charity events of the year.  It's a day of BBQing, golfing, and having a great time all while raising money for the One Step at a Time Camp.  We got tons of people out to support and raised over $2000!!  This money will send multiple kids to summer camp and has the potential to be life changing for any young person experiencing a disease, hardship, or terminal illness.

1:  Bill Dugan of the Fish Guy, a great seafood market on Elston, and his team won the golf portion of the event.
2:  Keith Jorgensen of Poetic Productions won the "best dressed" competition for being dressed just like Carl Spackler from the Caddyshack.
3:  Belen of Gerber+Scarpelli poses with Ali of Engaging Events by Ali.
4:  Attendees bought raffle tickets the length of their height to be entered into the raffle to win our fabulous prizes.
5:  Maggie Thalheimer of Gerber+Scarpelli poses with her mom who drove out to attend the event.
6:  Nick Gerber of Gerber+Scarpelli poses quite enthusiastically with Ali.
7:  Two videographers from I Do Films having a great time at the BBQ.
8:  Laura Black, a make up artist, won a fancy umbrella from the raffle.
9:  Nick Gerber and Louis of I Do Films having way too much fun for their own good.
10:  Ali, Keith, and Kurt Gerber drawing numbers for the raffle.

Kim & Art

Kim and Art are getting married September 24th, so we took them out the other weekend to get some engagement shots. We started out at their house, where we got some pictures of not only them but their awesome dog, Parker. It was a beautiful day out so we decided to walk over to Lincoln Park to get some shots. We had a blast walking around the park with this awesome couple! From there it was off to Kinzie street bridge, where Parker had fun barking at the boats. After such a terrific engagement we know their wedding is going to be so much fun!

Check back in a few weeks for Kim and Art's Wedding pictures!

Mary & Dave

The last weekend in July Dave and Mary tied the knot at the ever terrific Old St. Pat's. Mary, a teacher, had her class from the previous year come to the ceremony so we took a fun group picture with her students as soon as the mass was over. Mary is so dedicated to her students that she wore silly bands around her ankle in honor of her students (You should be able to spot them in a few of the pictures). After that we wandered down to the Chicago Yacht Club where Dave had proposed. Finally we were off to the reception at the fantastic Chicago Illuminating Company. The Illuminating Company is great because it's one of those spaces that is different almost every time we shoot there. With a little help from the crew over at Big City Bride the event design was beautiful and everything ran perfectly. A big thank you to Dave and Mary for letting us be a part of their team!

Courtney & Jeff

Courtney and Jeff had a wedding straight out of a fairy tale.  We had the pleasure of getting spend our day with this beautiful pair at the fabulous Hotel Intercontinental. After getting ready, they saw each other for the 1st time in the Hall of Lions. We then took the couple outside to Michigan Ave. for some photos before the ceremony. We had so much fun, and this couple made it so easy to get great pictures. The Grand Ballroom was decked out for an elegant ceremony. The reception was also in the Grand Ballroom and made a fantastic setting for these two tremendous people. We had such a great time on Courtney and Jeff's special day and we are glad they invited us to be there.

Tracy & Geoff

Looking for ways to make your wedding standout among the rest? Look no further. Tracy and Geoff put together an unforgettable event at the River East Art Center.

The couple saw each other for the first time at Lily Pond, which is nestled in the heart of Lincoln Park.  The pond allowed for a romantic, secluded and gorgeous spot to see each other. From there, we stopped at A New Leaf (where Geoff proposed) and Olive Park before retreating to the REAC for both the ceremony and reception.

From their vibrant flowers that stood out against the dining tables, to their custom photo cubed hi-boys, to even their giant cupcake, every little detail of Tracy and Geoff's wedding was spectacular. Their wedding such a hit that couple’s ala mater mascot, Sparty, made the trip down from Michigan State to surprise the newlyweds.

With the help of Laura Patterson, from the Ideal Day, the couple put together an all-star team of vendors: Blue Plate, David Rothstein Music, Event Creative, and Redmoon Performers

Thank you Geoff and Tracy for allowing us to take part in your beautiful wedding!

Dana & Robert

Dana and Robert tied the knot the other weekend and we had the privilege of being there to capture their special day. We met Dana at her parent's house were she prepared for the ceremony, and after she was dressed we headed to St. Stan's church for the ceremony. The church made a beautiful backdrop for a terrific ceremony. We were lucky enough to have a carnival setup right across the street from the church. This great couple was all for going and playing around in the carnival, and even though the rides were not running we had a blast taking pictures. Then we headed to olive park before getting to the reception at Glen Club. The place was decorated beautifully and everyone had an awesome time especially us!!!
